Sharon Concannon is Woman of the Year

Sharon Concannon is this year’s Delta Lambda Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi 2026 Woman of the Year. Sharon is a lifetime resident of Hugoton. Following her graduation from Hugoton High School, she

attended Hutchinson Community College and Brown Mackie Business School in Salina. She has worked as a legal secretary for law firms in Denver, Colorado and Hugoton. In addition to working as a legal secretary in Hugoton, she also worked as a paralegal before opening her own agricultural property management business where she managed farm ground for out of area landowners. Along with managing farm ground, she also provided financial management for many area farmers.
That is a brief summary of Sharon’s working history. But the real story is in her philanthropic efforts. Philanthropy is the “love of humanity,” defined as private initiatives and the voluntary giving of time, talent, or treasure to promote the public good and improve the quality of life for others. This definition describes Sharon to a T. The only thing this definition leaves out is the humble nature in which Sharon gives of herself.
Sharon helped organize the Benevolent Committee for Pheasant Heaven Charities, Inc., which was responsible for vetting requests to help those with catastrophic medical needs. In addition to her work with Pheasant Heaven Charities, Sharon keeps the books for The Peace House, is treasurer for Project Hope, serves meals with her friends in Arizona, does the shopping for individuals who struggle with getting to the store. Most recently Sharon has felt called to organize meals for anyone in the community who is in need of a meal and/or fellowship. This is called Grace n Gather and it is going into its second year. Sharon has served on the Hugoton Recreation Commission, and was a member of the Kappa Etta Sorority. She is a current board member of the Stevens County Medical Foundation, Western Kansas Community Foundation, Project Hope, Inc., and St. Helen Catholic Church Finance Council.
Sharon is a faithful woman who tries to live according to God’s plan. Sharon had a loving relationship with her family consisting of her husband Don, her mom Bonnie, her dad Leroy and her brother Tony. And of course, there’s Tony’s son Dustin, whom she loves and adores. She is called granny by her six amazing grandkids and six great grandkids. She is loved beyond words by her family of friends too numerous to name. She has a great sense of humor and creates happiness and laughter for everyone around her. She enjoys reading, golfing, watching sports on tv and traveling to see family and friends.
