One of Hugoton’s longest-tenured companies, Martin Trucking, Inc. has reached its 42nd year, along with related business, Southwest Express Inc., now in its 27th year. One of the owners, Doug Martin, recently turned 70, meaning three of the original drivers at Martin are still with the company and all still driving trucks into their 70s.
The three posed for a photo together with homemade Tshirts to commemorate their longevity, as well as the estimated two million-plus miles each has driven. From left to right are co-owner Ron Martin (74), Ray Talbert (75), and Doug Martin (70).
The Martin family started the company in 1984 and Talbert joined the following year.
