Christmas will be here before we know it! With the approaching holiday, many businesses in town have opted to observe different hours than usual to allow their employees time to celebrate with their families.
Hosting Christmas dinner? White’s Foodliner and Thrifty King have got all your food needs covered! Just stop by White’s by 7:00 p.m. Christmas Eve to finish up your shopping. Thrifty King will be open regular hours December 24, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for all those finishing touches. Both stores will be closed Christmas Day so their staff can enjoy the holiday with family and friends. Presto on Main Street and Express Lane on Washington and Eleventh will be open regular hours throughout the holiday. Moscow Store will close at 1:00 p.m. Christmas Eve and will remain closed through Christmas Day. Rolla Corner Stop said they will close at 2:00 p.m. December 24 and will reopen Saturday with regular hours.
Unless you plan to eat at China, you won’t be able to eat at a restaurant for Christmas Day. McDonald’s announced they will close at 8:00 p.m. Christmas Eve and will reopen Saturday, December 26 with regular hours. Sonic will also close early December 24, at 5:00 p.m. and reopen Saturday with regular hours. Subway will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. December 24 and will be closed for Christmas Day. Pizza Hut will close at 6:00 p.m. Christmas Eve and will open Saturday with regular hours. If you’re craving Mexican cuisine, make sure to stop by Ranchito or The Steakhouse December 23 as both restaurants will be closed both December 24 and 25. Dominoes Mexican Grill will be closed Christmas Day only. If you’re a barbecue lover, be sure to visit the Oklahoma Smoke trailer at the B&B Motel parking lot Tuesday, December 22. That will be their last visit to Hugoton until 2016!
Country Garden and Creative Specialties will both be closed Christmas Eve and will reopen Monday, December 28 with regular hours. Creative Specialties announced they will reopen in the event of a funeral. Yardmaster plans to close at 4:00 p.m. December 24 and will open again Monday, December 28 with regular hours. Janet’s Bridal will be closed December 23 through December 28. The Hugoton Hermes office will close at 12:00 noon Thursday and will open Monday with regular hours. Deadline for the December 31 paper will be Monday, December 28 at 5:00 p.m. United Wireless is a great place to get that special someone a new phone, or phone accessory, but get there before noon December 24, they will be closed Christmas Day.
If you’re getting close to the bottom of any of your prescriptions, be sure to stock up at Hugoton Drug, Stevens County Retail Pharmacy or ElKan Drug before the holiday. Hugoton Drug will be open until 12:00 noon Christmas Eve and will open again Monday morning. Stevens County Retail Pharmacy will close at 3:00 p.m. December 24 and will remain closed until Monday morning. ElKan Drug in Liberal will close at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 24 and will be open again Saturday, December 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Stevens County Medical Clinic will be open until 12:00 noon Christmas Eve, and there will be NO Saturday clinic. Of course, Stevens County Hospital’s Emergency Room will be open throughout the holiday for any health emergencies. The Animal Health Center will close at 12:00 noon Christmas Eve and will be open Saturday, December 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In case of emergency, you are still encouraged to call the office at 620-544-7848.
Be sure to get all your banking done Christmas Eve morning, as First National will be closing at 12:00 noon and Citizens State Bank will be closing at 1:00 p.m. Both banks will reopen Monday morning with regular hours. The Hugoton Area Chamber of Commerce and Stevens County Economic Development Office will both be closing at 2:00 p.m. Thursday for Christmas Eve and will reopen Monday with regular hours.
The Stevens County Courthouse will close at 2:00 p.m. and the City of Hugoton will close at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 24. Moscow citizens, make sure to take care of any official business by closing time Wednesday, December 23 as the City Office will remain closed until Monday, December 28. USD 210 Central Office will close at 12:00 noon Tuesday, December 22. Pyramid Agency will be closed both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Hugoton’s Senior Center will be closed Christmas Day. There will be no Meals on Wheels available, so please make sure to make arrangements for lunch!
Hopefully your holiday is free from any insurance claims, but if not, take note of the following hours: Ag First, State Farm, Jeff Ramsey Farm Bureau, Tanner Rindels Farm Bureau and Pate Agency will be closed December 24 and 25. Musgrove Agency will close at 12:00 noon Christmas Eve and will reopen Monday with regular hours.
Dollar General and Flatlanders will both close early Christmas Eve; Flatlanders will be closed at 5:00 p.m. and Dollar General will close up at 8:00 p.m. Both stores will be closed Christmas Day, and will reopen Saturday, December 26. If you need something for the kids to do during the holiday from school, stop by Showplace Video throughout the holiday weekend to pick up the newest movies or an old family favorite to watch together! While you’re there, don’t forget the drinks and fresh buttered popcorn! They are open from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 1:00 to 10:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Does your crew prefer to curl up with a good book? Then stop by the Stevens County Library by December 23, before they close up. They will reopen Monday, December 28, so make sure to stock up!
Got any last-minute home improvement projects before you greet your Christmas guests? Make sure to stop by Hi-Plains Lumber before they close at 12:00 noon Christmas Eve, as they will remain closed until Monday morning. Bultman Inc. plans to close at noon December 24 amd will reopen Monday. Plumbing on the fritz? Make sure to give Lin Goode and Company a call before Christmas Eve! They will be closed December 24 and will reopen Monday, December 28. American Implement announced they’ll be closing at 12:00 noon Christmas Eve and will reopen Monday.
If new tires are on your Christmas list, make sure to stop by Bultman Tire by noon Christmas Eve before they close. They will reopen Saturday, December 26 with regular hours. And if your car needs some new parts or accessories, get to NAPA Auto Parts by noon Christmas Eve, or to Southwest Kansas Sales by 3:00 p.m. December 24. Both businesses will be closed Christmas Day. Ghumm’s Auto Center and Ghumm’s Collision Center will both close at 12:00 noon Thursday and will reopen Monday morning. Riley Chevrolet will be open until noon Christmas Eve and will reopen Monday. Mick’s C&A Automotive will be closed both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Having a Christmas party and need some beverages? Don’t fret – Twisted H Liquor will be open until 7:00 p.m. Christmas Eve, and Thrifty King Liquor will be open until 9:00 p.m. Both liquor stores will be closed Christmas Day. Barb’s Den will be happy to host you and your guests Christmas Eve, but they will be closed Christmas Day.
