Hugoton is the place to be for Fourth of July weekend

This year lots of activities are happening in Hugoton, July 3 and 4. Saturday is the Fourth of July and Hugoton will be celebrating with the Annual Park Day!

The Fireworks Display this year is Friday, July 3 at the Hugoton
football field at 215 West 11th Street. All veterans and active duty service members are invited as special guests this year. There will be a special section set up for the veterans and their families on the west side of the stadium. Spectators can sit in chairs in designated areas of the football field or sit in the stands. Food truck vendors will be open at 4 p.m. Come and enjoy the festivities officially kicking off the evening’s celebration honoring America’s 250th Anniversary. Bring your patriotic dancing spirit and enjoy entertainment by DJ Smitty before the fireworks. The Fireworks show starts at 10 p.m. by Pyro Pros of Hugoton. Tune in on 93.1 FM on your radio to the fireworks pyro musical event.

Hugoton’s Annual Fourth of July Park Day will kick-off at 8:15 a.m. July 4 with the registration for the Little Miss / Mr. Hugoton Pageant. The registration and Opening Ceremonies will take place in the northeast corner of City Park.

At 8:45 a.m. Saturday the official Opening Ceremonies start with Boy Scout Troops presenting the Colors and leading all in the Pledge of Allegiance. Renee Beesley Vocal Performance with Maddie and Morgan Niehues, duet will perform the National Anthem followed by prayer.

The Little Miss/Mr. Hugoton pageant will follow the opening
ceremonies at approximately 9 a.m. and is sponsored by
Flatlanders Farm and Home + Grocery of Hugoton.

The popular Turtle Race, sponsored by SWFAS, will start off all the other events at exactly 9 a.m. on the north side of the park. The rest of the activities will follow upon completion of the activity that is scheduled before it. These include the Frog Jump at 9:30 a.m. sponsored by SWFAS; Sack Races at 10 a.m. sponsored by CSB; Sour Candy Challenge at 10:20 a.m. sponsored by Pyro Pros – Arick Miller; Egg Toss at 10:30 a.m. sponsored by Wolters Construction; Hot Pepper Eating Contest @11 a.m. sponsored by Pyro Pros – Arick Miller. There will be large inflatables starting at 9 a.m.

You can not forget the Rotary Duck Races at noon in Canal Street. Be sure to purchase those lucky ducks before the race begins from a Hugoton Rotary member.

Many events will be taking place all day long. In the southwest corner of the park will be the Dunk Tank sponsored by the Santa Committee; on the southeast corner of the park will be the Back Seat Driver sponsored by the Stevens County Sheriff’s Department; and don’t miss the Large Inflatable “Billy” the Mechanical Bull and Wipeout! There will be mini golf, ring toss, a car raffle, cake walk, corn hole, and so much more!

There will be numerous booths and concessions all around the park.
Some include items to keep you from getting hungry or thirsty. There will be baked goods, photo booth games, hair bows and accessories, lemonade and Red Bull infusions, candy, car and gun raffle, crocheted items, Dubai chocolate strawberry bar, Herbalife product energy teas, protein balls, homemade pies, bodycare sticker, candles, DIYs and homemade goods, handmade jewelry, kettle corn, sweet roasted corn, gummy w/chili snack cups, ice chest tea and cookies, free ice water and church literature, free hotdogs, iced coffee, permanent jewelry, corn hole, dirty sodas/limeades, Red Bull, acai bowls, pies, walking tacos, crochet animals, breakfast burritos, cinnamon rolls, coffee, dirty soda, gourmet cookies, aquas frescas, kids stickers, tacos, jarritos, homemade potato chips, rusa, flyers, drawings, prizes, tortas and gorditas, soccer darts, inflatible arhery, ribera refreshments, organic coffee, micheladas, beef jerky, mangonadas, frozen ice cream, treats, smoked ribs, birria street tacos, burgers and parfaits, boutique apparel and accessories, sushi bowls, tortas cubanas, tacos al pastor, children’s clothing, toys, candy basket, steak, and seafood, just to name a few.

There is something for Everyone this holiday weekend starting Friday with fireworks and Saturday at Park Day in Hugoton.
