Congratulations to the Hugoton Middle School Robotics Teams!
Please take a moment to congratulate the Hugoton Middle School
robotics students on their outstanding performance at the Southwest Kansas Regional FIRST LEGO League Robotics Competition, in Liberal March 7. The competition featured 15 teams from across Southwest Kansas.
This year’s FIRST LEGO League season theme was “Unearthed,” in which teams explored archaeology while designing, building, and programming robots to complete mission challenges. Teams were judged in four main areas: Team Core Values, Robot Design,
Research Project, and Robot Games, with three of these evaluated during a 30-minute presentation session.
The FIRST LEGO League Robot Game is the afternoon part of the competition, where teams use the robot they built and programmed to complete missions on a themed field. Teams have 2 minutes and 30 seconds to score as many points as possible by completing tasks with their robot. Each team gets three rounds, and the highest score counts.
The MS Blue Team – Trowel and Error Team consists of members Alex Moore, Greta Tower, Isabella Newmon, Kreedyn Lewis, Kyson Morelos, Skyler Mason and Coach Liz Tower. The MS Blue team has been invited to compete at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Ma. this June.
