Stevens County Conservation District’s Seventy-sixth Annual Appreciation Banquet is Saturday, January 24. The banquet is hosted by the Stevens County Conservation District. The event will be at the Memorial Hall at Sixth and Monroe in Hugoton starting at 5:00 p.m. Join them for dinner, accomplishments, awards, meeting and election.
The guest speaker for the evening will be Dale Younker. Dale grew up on a diversified farm near Hays and received his Bachelor of Science
degree in Agriculture from Fort Hays State University. He has worked for Kansas NRCS in Western Kansas for the last 38 years and has been in his current position as the Soil Health Specialist since 2014. His primary responsibility is to provide technical assistance on cropping systems that improve overall soil health to NRCS field staff and producers across western Kansas. Dale also owns and operates a farm in Ellis and Rush County where he uses a diverse and intensive no-till cropping system that includes several different cash crops along with cover crops. He and his two sons also operate a custom farming business in Ellis and surrounding counties.
The Hugoton FFA will be helping with the dinner. Hunny’s BBQ will be catering the dinner courtesy of Citizens State Bank. Door prizes will be given away!
This year’s winners are Brandon Bozone, Grassland winner; Chris Heger Family Farms, Soil Conservation winner; and Eagle RV Park- Tron Stegman and Jan Leonard, Windbreak winners.
The Distinguished Community Service Award will also be
presented during the banquet and meeting. Be sure to mark your
