The Hugoton Eagles are headed to State for the fourth year in a row after winning the Sub-State game against Wellington Saturday, March 2, 73-39. Wednesday, February 28 the varsity Eagles hosted the first round of Sub-State games taking on Augusta. After four quarters the Eagles took the win 54-35.

Hugoton (20-2) will play Abilene (19-3) in the first round of the 4A State Tournament Thursday at 8:00 p.m. Hugoton will play at the Salina-Tony’s Pizza Events Center at 800 The Midway, in Salina.

The winners of the quarterfinals, Hugoton vs. Abilene and Atchison (20-2) vs St. George-Rock Creek (18-4), will play Friday, March 8 at 8:00 p.m. The winner of that matchup will play Saturday, March 9 at 6:15 for the State title.

For those unable to make it to Salina, the games can be seen live at High Plains Theatre in Hugoton on the big screen.
