Goering, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Sherry, her husband Don Goering and daughters Katrina and Crystal moved to Hugoton from Colby. Sherry had been employed as a
secretary at the USDA Soil Conservation Service in Colby. Don and Sherry both worked with the production of the Drummer newspaper in Colby before moving to Hugoton.
Don was named Publisher of The Hermes in 1975 by Miller Publishing Company. Don, Sherry and family created Goering Publishing Incorporated and in 1979 Goering Publishing purchased
The Hugoton Hermes remaining stock from Larry Miller (Miller
Publishing) and took over ownership.
Sherry served as Editor of the Hermes from May 31, 1979 to May 15, 2007. In May of 2007, Don and Sherry sold The Hermes to Faith Publishing LLC, owned by RoGlenda Coulter, Kay McDaniels and Ruthie Winget, long time employees.
The Goerings recently moved to Wichita to be near their daughters. Sherry’s complete obituary is on page 2.
