Tuesday, October 7, the HS competitive robotics team and DECA business club participated in Seward County Community College’s Second Annual TechBiz Challenge!
The robotics team competed in LEGO robotics and drones. For the
robotics challenge, they redesigned pre-existing builds and coded them to solve several challenges set up on a mat. For the drone challenge, they built and flew their own aircraft through a small obstacle course. Their coaches were impressed with their teamwork and troubleshooting skills! Raymond Lamatsch and Caitlyn Johnson won overall. Raymond also won a $500 scholarship to SCCC.
The DECA club competed in the Marketing Challenge. Students were randomly put in teams of four members for this challenge. Students
received a scenario to create an October-themed drink for the Cozy Corner Coffee Shop in Liberal Students needed to research, and determine what items they would need for their drink. They needed a cost analysis, marketing strategy, timeline, and more for a final presentation. Teams stood in front of SCCC faculty, students, and other teams competing to present their final presentation. Nikayla Vos walked away with a $500 scholarship to SCCC for her ability to Step Up and Lead her team. We are proud of all our students! They stepped out of their comfort zones and went above and beyond what was expected of them.
