Christmas Parade and Santa will be here Saturday

Saturday evening in Hugoton will be full of fun and lights and of course Santa Claus. Saturday, December 3 is the fourth annual lighted Christmas Parade. The parade will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. and travel down Main Street in Hugoton. The Hugoton Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the parade again this year. Santa Claus will make his grand appearance in the parade and will stick around to visit with the kids afterwards. The parade will be judged by local students. There will be $50.00 in Chamber bucks awarded to Best Christmas Lights and Most Holly Jolly. All Hugoton businesses, groups, individuals and non-profits are invited to participate. There will also be a performance by the Hugoton High School Show Choir.

Santa will wait in Senior Center at Seventh and Main after the parade. So bring the kiddos by and visit with Santa so they can tell him what they want for Christmas this year. Santa’s visit is sponsored by the Santa Committee and the Hugoton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Kenn Neyland carries a rugged wooden cross on his shoulder for all who don’t have it in their lives. He has been dong it for eight years and is almost 85 years old! He asks for blessings for the towns he visits. He travels about 13 miles a day and has covered over half the state of Kansas from Wichita to Concordia and down over the south portion of the state. He visited Hugoton Thursday, walking up and down Main Street and was headed to Elkhart, Johnson and Ulysses after that. Then he will be back at home in Great Bend. He hands out bookmarks with the The Crossman’s Prayer printed on them and feels everyone should read it. It changed his life and he feels you can learn much from Jesus. He spent one whole year in Calforina and has traveled thousands of miles asking for blessings for the towns he visits. Some of the states he has carried it are Virginia, Georgia, Nebraska, Florida, New York, California, etc.
