Felicia Moreland named Cub Master of the Year

The Cimarron River District Boy Scouts of America hosted its annual recognition dinner at the Sublette Community Building Saturday, January 24. The host was Pack 142 with Jerry and Angie Lee as leaders. They set up a very attractive and inviting room and served coffee and tea. The meal was catered by Good Eats and Sweet Treats. The opening prayer was offered by Jake Jacobs of Liberal. The opening was the John Wayne Face the Flag Son with the pledge of Allegiance led by Cub Scouts Stoppel and Moreland.

Popcorn top sellers were recognized by Popcorn Kernel Zach Wester. Top units included Hugoton’s Pack 189 in first; second place was awarded to Liberal’s Troop 73; and third place went to Liberal’s Pack 43. Top individuals were first place Kyle Wagenseller, Troop 73 from Liberal; second place Jacob Stoppel, Pack 142 of Sublette;  and third place Ayden Harper, Pack 189 from Hugoton.

A wild and crazy skit was performed by Jared Wagenseller, Chris Ramirez and Mark Robison of Liberal and Pete Lux from Elkhart. All Scouting volunteers and their spouses were recognized and given a token of appreciation. Door prize drawings took place throughout the evening and everyone in attendance received the prize of their choice.

Leader of the Year Awards were presented to the following volunteers – Cub Master of the Year Felicia Moreland of Hugoton presented by Mark Robison from Liberal; Den Leader of the Year – Angie Lee of Sublette presented by Chris Ramirez from Liberal; Assistant Cub Master of the Year – Nick Schwint of Liberal presented by Patty Volden from Liberal; Scoutmaster of the Year – Luke Dowell of Liberal presented by Jared Wagenseller from Liberal; Unit Committee Member of the Year – Cindy Frerichs of Liberal, presented by Jake Jacobs from Liberal; Unit Commissioner of the Year – Jared Wagenseller of Liberal presented by Pete Lux from Elkhart; District Award of Merit – Pete Lux of Elkhart presented by Ted Bansemer from Hugoton and Michael Stewart, Scout Executive of Garden City; Eagle Recognition by Ted Bansemer of Hugoton. Eagle Scouts recognized were Eagle Scout Zachery Pierson from Moscow; Eagle Scout Quentin Ricketts of Sublette; and Eagle Scout Mitchell Irby from Liberal.

During the meal, District Executive Alan Watson of Sublette showed a video of all the 2014 District Activities.

District Chair Ted Bansemer presented brief comments followed by District Executives Alan Watson from Sublette and Andy Tredder of Dodge City. Scout Executive Michael Stewart of Garden City offered a brief overview of programs happening and some items began in 2014.

The program closed with God Bless the USA and waving of flags.
